Equipment installed qty

Hi,

I have come across this requirement from end-users that they need to know the numbers of Equipment installed at the plant. Presently the system shows that which Equipment is present at which functional location. Unlike materials in which we know how much inventory present and how much consumed , how to keep a track on Equipment in inventory and how many installed?
